BuildoutLeads

Every new office, clinic & restaurant buildout in Chicago — while the GC is still picking vendors.

Building permits are public record. We watch them daily, filter out the noise, and send you the commercial buildouts that will need your trade in the next 30–90 days, along with the contracting firms already on the job.

The Problem

The leads are free. The work isn't.

You've maybe heard the trick: get on the job before anyone else knows the space exists. A cleaning contractor put it this way, but it holds for flooring, paint, signage and furniture just the same:

"The best commercial cleaning leads are sitting in your city's permit database — and they're free."

The catch? Pulling, filtering, and researching permits every morning is a part-time job. That's why you don't do it. Neither do your competitors.

Lead services sell the same information for $40 a lead, shared with four competitors, three weeks late. By then the GC has already picked someone.

How It Works

Permit issued → you call first

1

We watch the permit feed daily

Chicago issues ~2,600 building permits a month. We filter them to the ~38/week that matter to the trades: interior buildouts, tenant improvements, new construction — offices, medical, restaurants, gyms, retail. $25k+ jobs only.

2

You get a daily email digest

Address, what's being built, reported job value, and which licensed firms are on the job. General contractor first, plus the electrical, plumbing and mechanical subs.

3

You call while it's still drywall

The buildout finishes in 30–90 days, and the GC is choosing subs and vendors long before that. Flooring and paint get picked mid-job; signage and furniture get ordered early for lead times; cleaning comes at handover and turns into a recurring contract.

Questions

Straight answers

What exactly is in a lead?
Permit issue date, address, work description, reported job value, permit type, and the licensed firms filed on the permit — general contractor plus the electrical, plumbing and mechanical subs. We publish businesses only. Where a permit lists an individual rather than a company, we leave that name out.
How is this different from HBW or $40-a-lead services?
They mail a weekly report days later and sell the same lead to everyone. We send daily, filtered down to commercial buildouts only, and cap membership per city. First come, first served.
Which cities?
Chicago now. Austin next. Then wherever the votes point. City not covered within 60 days of you signing up for it = automatic refund.
